Tassadar's Information

Character Personality: Everything that Tassadar does is for the Protoss race regardless of the actions he needs to take in order to protect his people. He is wise beyond his years and is a well respected High Templar among the Protoss – by both those that follow the Khala, and later those of the Dark Templar. Tassadar is also known as 'Aiur's Favoured Son' by the entire Protoss race because of his efforts to eradicate the threat the Zerg Swarm place throughout the galaxy.

He is extremely dedicated to his duties, and would do whatever it took in order to complete them. While he is a fiercely proud warrior, Tassadar isn't afraid to throw away his pride and Protoss honour if he believed that in doing so, it would ultimately protect his people and homeworld from the Zerg threat – something which he did when he battled against the Overmind. He willingly gave up everything to continue the fight; his pride, his honour, his position among the Protoss hierarchy so that he could keep his people safe from the looming threat. Even when the Conclave leaders set out into space to arrest him, Tassadar did not stop with his duty to rid the galaxy from the Zerg threat.

Unlike most other Protoss warriors, Tassadar isn’t entirely bound by old Protoss traditions. He unique among his species as he is one of only two Protoss warriors that has mastered not only the Khala energies, but also the energies of the Void. Traditional Protoss belief forbid any of those following the Khala to practice forbidden art of the Void, but after spending time with the Dark Templar Prelate, Zeratul, Tassadar was able to put aside his racism to learn the ways of the Void.

Tassadar is also the type of being who would selflessly sacrifice his own life to protect everyone else regardless of race. Throughout his mission to destroy the Zerg, he learnt not only to put aside his race’s traditions and sense of racism, but also how to trust and work alongside other races – even going so far as to befriend some humans.

He is also crafty and can be manipulative. Tassadar isn’t afraid to use his techniques and abilities to his advantage or as a distraction. He’s not above using his illusionary techniques against an enemy to give him the upper-hand or distract them while his companions struck elsewhere.

Character Abilities:

Mental Abilities

Protoss are extraordinarily focused, to a degree unmatched by humans. Their powerful psionic abilities extend further than that of human Ghosts. The Protoss race are natural mind-readers, and must learn to filter the thoughts they read and filter (or block) the thoughts that they release (which would prevent other Protoss from reading their minds). The ability to block thoughts is compromised by the Khala, which prevents the Protoss which follow that philosophy from hiding from each other.

Protoss can only verbally communicate via telepathy – there is no other type of verbal communication they can give considering that the Protoss do not have mouths. They can do so through "speaking", a method that does not transmit emotional content. Using their nerve cords they can also communicate in a manner which enables them to sense each others' emotions. The Protoss "speak" a language called Khalani; Terrans exposed to Protoss telepathic communication often hear nearly meaningless symbols. However, at least some Protoss have the ability to "translate" the thoughts into a form which a Terran can understand – such as Tassadar has been able to.

There are three psionic attacks Tassadar can do:

Psionic Storm:
Is an attack created by the Protoss' powerful psionic abilities. This attack creates a powerful psionic electrical storm that deals massive mental and nerve damage to any creature exposed to it. This damage is still dealt just as harshly regardless of if the receiver is out in the open or within a building, bunker, or machine.
Hallucination:
Using his powerful mind abilities, Tassadar is able to create perfect hallucinations of not only living creatures, but of moving vehicles as well. These hallucinations are perfect in appearance, and any living creature (other than the hallucination's creator) will see them as if they were flesh and blood. The hallucinations; however, do not inflict damage when they 'attack', and cannot cast spells, but they can take damage and appear to fight like a creature of flesh and blood.
Psionic Flash:
The final psionic attack is much like a telekinetic flash that lashes out to strike Tassadar's opponents.

Tassadar can also do a form of Shadow Walking, which was taught to him by the Dark Templar. What this does is it enables him to cloak his body in shadows and become invisible by using his great mental power.

Within the Protoss race, Tassadar is known as a High Templar. The powers that the High Templar have are unmatched throughout the Protoss race. This power that they have radiates from them and caused their bodies to levitate off of the ground. All High Templar move in this fashion of levitation and leave temporary 'imprints' of themselves in their wake. The imprints only last a few second, and leave a trail of two behind the High Templar's movements.

Character Weaknesses: Tassadar’s loyalty to his own people is a major weakness for him. Despite knowing that his efforts would be better spent on the battlefield against the Zerg, Tassadar handed himself over to the Conclave to stop the civil war breaking out between the Protoss.

[ MEISTER SECTION ]

Why your character should be a Meister: Tassadar was once an Executor (a term for leader within his race) of the Templar Caste (the fighters), and he also commanded an armada of carriers for deep space exploration. While he can take orders, Tassadar isn’t afraid to defy them either if he doesn’t agree with the Conclave’s decision.

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]

Soul Description: loyal, wise, fierce, dedicated, proud, honourable

Soul Appearance: It would be a small glowing blue soul that is more elongated and oval rather than circular. The eyes would flash between blue and yellow.

First Person:

[The screen flickers to life momentarily to show the shadowy image of pale humanoid face, but the softly glowing blue eyes clearly showed the wisdom hidden beneath the gaze.]

I have spoken at great lengths to those who have brought us here, and while I cannot condone their actions, there seems to be little choice in the direction that must be taken. [There’s an odd echo-like tone to his voice. If one looks close enough, they might notice the lack of any facial features outside of the two softly glowing eyes.] I have little time to waste here, and I must return to Aiur at once!

[He goes quiet for a moment, almost as if he was in thought.]

If I am to join this war effort, then I will first need to know as much information as possible.

Third Person: Sample piece taken from hells_gate_pen

Tassadar had felt and embraced his impending death as the Ganthritor impacted with the Zerg Overmind. The combined psionic powers ripped through the large Protoss carrier moments before it exploded and the High Templar's world was engulfed in the white hot flame. There was nothing but complete emptiness for a few seconds for Tassadar, and just as oblivion seemed to reach out and engulf the proud Protoss warrior, the peaceful journey to the Khala was destroyed and torn from his grasp.

Softly glowing blue eyes flickered open to view the ceiling above him. The taste on the air instantly reminded the High Templar of the few Terran facilities he had gone through leading up to the final assault. It smelt musty, and it made his entire flesh crawl at the moist sensation waving over his exposed skin. How did he end up within a Terran structure? Hadn't he been assaulting the Overmind moments ago?

The moment Tassadar pushed himself up to sit, the Protoss warrior instantly noticed the difference with his physical frame, and that it appeared that he'd somehow managed to lose a great deal of his height. Lifting up his arm, Tassadar tilted his head subtly to one side in confusion. There didn't seem to be any problem with the motor function as he flexed his fingers, but he could instantly tell that his arm had lost a decent amount of its length. What manner of science was this?

He couldn't get any connection through the Khala to other Protoss members - something that disturbed the High Templar to no end. He hadn't severed his nerve cords, and after reaching back to see if they were still intact, Tassadar found himself further confused when it appeared that they were. Only the Dark Templar would have such a lack of connection to the other Protoss, and such a state could only be caused by the severing of his nerve cords. His were still connected.

A quick glance around the room instantly told the High Templar that he was in a Terran facility. The Zerg lacked such structure design, and Protoss design was never this poorly done. How had this happened? Walking over towards the large barred area, Tassadar reached out with his hand to touch the iron bars. They seemed too solid and strong for him to break without any weapon, and without the psionic link through the Khala, Tassadar was unsure how he would be able to escape from this mess.

He needed to know if the Overmind had been successfully destroyed, but it seemed that he was going nowhere until one of the Terran decided to grace him with their presence.

[ NOTES ] none~

OOC: Physical Description

Protoss are 9'8" in height and have two glowing eyes (Tassadar initially has blue coloured eyes, but as he uses his psionic abilities they glow yellow), digitigrade legs, semi-permeable skin covered in scales, four digits on their hands (of which two are thumbs) and toes, broad chests and shoulders, and narrow waists with slim midsections. Extending back from the crown of the head, Protoss have a bony crest. Beneath it, emerging from the back of the head, are the nerve cords, allowing them to access their racial psionic gestalt. This gestalt is the basis of the Khala. The Khala is in fact a crystal used by the Protoss to link all of their minds together. This way every single Protoss is aware of the other's thoughts and can not hide their intentions from others in their race. Because of this, the Protoss have centred their entire society and religion on the Khala crystal.

The Xel'Naga (An ancient race that founded the beginning of Protoss society) considered these beings to have purity of form as the Protoss are incredibly adaptable to harsh natural conditions and climates, and their strength and speed were unparalleled amongst the other races known to the Xel'Naga. Protoss even have sharp claws, which can be deadly weapons if a Protoss is caught unarmed.

Protoss do not have mouths, noses, or visible ears. Protoss are photosynthetic, capable of living off of moonlight (reflected sunlight), and can go without light for extended periods of time. They drink water, and what little water they need is absorbed through their skins.

Protoss hear and smell through their skin, and it is believed that their primary sense is sight. Protoss have a sense of smell sharp enough to identify other Protoss and see very well at night. A Protoss' skin colour may change in response to changes in its emotions.

A Protoss' average life expectancy is about a thousand years.

Protoss blood is blue or purple, with a slight iridescence. They also have a psionic pulse encased in a physical body. Once that body is destroyed, the psionic pulse dissipates, flaring with a pale, blue light.

As in humans, coloration is considered a sign of ethnicity, with each Protoss tribe having a specific subtly differing hue or typical pattern of markings associated with it.

Mental Abilities:

Protoss are extraordinarily focused, to a degree unmatched by humans. Their powerful psionic abilities extend further than that of human Ghosts. Protoss are natural mind-readers. Protoss must learn to filter the thoughts they read and filter (or block) the thoughts that they release (which would prevent other Protoss from reading their minds). The ability to block thoughts is compromised by the Khala, which prevents the Protoss which follow that philosophy from hiding from each other.

Protoss can communicate telepathically with each other. They can do so through "speaking", a method that does not transmit emotional content. Using their nerve cords they can also communicate in a manner which enables them to sense each others' emotions, a key part of their psionic gestalt, the Khala.

Protoss "speak" a language called Khalani; Terrans (Humans) exposed to Protoss telepathic communication often hear nearly meaningless symbols. However, at least some Protoss have the ability to "translate" the thoughts into a form which a Terran can understand – such as Tassadar has been able to.

The Protoss High Templar treading the path of the Khala are taught to close their minds to the outside world - for powerful psychics like the Protoss this may produce psychic ripples that are harmful to other life forms. High Templar, like Tassadar, are trained to focus these ripples into terrible storms of psychic energy that destroy the minds of other living creatures.
